St George's Children's Choir
The St George's Children’s Choir is open to all children and young people from Year 1 upwards. The choir’s aim to create a friendly, joyful, and supportive environment that encourages children to sing, learn to read music, and be part of a regular group that takes pleasure in singing together. The choir is co-led by our Director of Children’s Choir, Mandy Roberts, and our Director of Music, Sue Howell Evans, both of whom have extensive experience in leading choirs with young people.
The choir is free to join. Part of the expectation of being a member of the choir is that the children will sing at the All-Age Worship at St George’s which takes place once per month during term time. There will also be other services, concerts, and events at which the choir will be invited to sing.
Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays at 3:30pm in St George’s Church during term. Children from Rumboldswhyke School are collected from school by the choir leaders at 3:15pm, and walked over to the church. Other children will be able to join us in church at 3:30pm. Parents and carers are asked to collect their children from church of 4:30pm.
The children will be provided with a drink and biscuit.
If you are interested in your child joining the choir, please email: music@stgeorgeschichester.org so that more information can be send out together with permission forms to complete before your child starts attending the choir.
