Admission of Children to Holy Communion

St George's gladly welcomes all children over the age of 7 years old, who are baptised, to be prepared to receive their first Holy Communion. We see this as a vital part of including children at the heart of our church and of nurturing each child's relationship with God, their journey into sacramental faith and deepening their own sense of belonging and participation in the body of the Church.

First Communion classes are run each year at St George's and culminate in an All-Age Service where children receive their First Communion supported by their family, friends and the whole congregation. For those children who are not already baptised, they will be prepared for baptism and baptised at the same service.

In preparing children for First Holy Communion, we follow the Church of England's teaching and the Diocese of Chichester guidelines,
